Fonts in Mozilla Thunderbird

For years I have been running with the default font in Thunderbird, Times New Roman. Its a painful font to read compared with others.

Just head to the "Tools" menu, select "Options", then "Display" and press the "Fonts..." button at the bottom.

Change the Serif font to Verdana and click "Ok". All your emails will be in a nice friendly font without glyphs that make your eyes hurt.

Marijuana and cancer

You'll need to read the following blog entry by Scott Adams first:

Are you back? While Mr Adams has an interesting point, I asked myself a different question. Clearly the world has an experiment into the benefits of smoking marijuana in the form of Amsterdam.

If there was a lower cancer rate for that city surely that would be proof enough?

It reminds me of some research into the MMR vaccine that in the UK was suspected of causing Autism. However when they looked at the Autism rates in Japan, where the vaccine was not given, they matched the UK rates.

Clearly someone needs to do a study of cancer clusters based on locality.

In case you were wondering I do not endorse the use of marijuana, and am against legalising it. This is just an exercise in scientific reasoning.
